4th ISIMMED (International Seminar on Innovation in Mathematics and Mathematics Education)

October 15th, 2020

The world, nowadays, is trying to set up a new normal post Covid-19 pandemics. It changes our way of life as it requires us to adapt to the new environment in daily activites and work. The changes bring opportunities as well as challenges for us.

Mathematics and Statistics play significant role in the development of the society. Within the new normal and uncertainty, people change their behaviours and social structure which raise interesting phenomena to be studied from Mathematics and Statistics standpoints. The changes in the social structure with regards to the new normal might also affect education sector such as conducting online class, shifting the role of teachers, teaching and evaluation methods, and learning space. These transformations need to be addressed.

At the same time, in the society 5.0, technologies such as big data, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and robots fuse across all sectors.  Bringing together the new normal rules in the society 5.0, the issue is not only about coping with the new technology, but also preparing young people with skills to deal with new enviroments.

As a result of establishing the new era, there are opportunities for us to get involved in meaningful changes. It is time of learning, for reflection and getting better together to support each other through these changes. Therefore, we would like to invite researchers, educators, teachers and practitioners to share ideas, thoughts and information regarding the new roles of Statistics, Mathematics and Mathematics Education in the new normal of society 5.0.
